Is Change Logical or Emotional?
Is change a logical or emotional process?
Lets consider our health. Logic tells us that we should eat well, sleep well etc. Howver the emotions play into that when we "want the burger and chips" or the ice cream. Its a continual struggle to manage those two conflicting areas. However they can co-exist peacfully and help us to implement change in our liefestyle.
Many leaders excel at presenting an intellectual case for change, but they lack appealing to people's emotional core.
It is the employees' emotions that will help them develop buy-in and ownership of the change process.
So how can leaders deliver not just a logical case for change, but also an emotionally compelling one?
Why is it that when we talk about change, leaders of our organizations are incredibly optimistic, and the rest of the people just roll their eyes. When the leaders share their vision and excitement and the management team says yes that's what we want to do, and the rest of the people say "oh my goodness".
When leaders have inspiration, other team members have perspiration.
