Make Mistakes

"I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something.

So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.

Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it.

Make your mistakes, next year and forever."

― Neil Gaiman

I came across this quote several years ago, and it’s stuck in my head. It not only exemplifies the way I live, but in my opinion, should be the mantra for ones journey to excellence.
At school when studying physics, we learnt about the principles of inertia. A simple block on a sloping surface may be still until some force is applied to get it moving. That process of getting it moving requires enough force to overcome inertia. Then the block will move freely after that.
How many times have we been stuck on the precipice of greatness and just could not create that momentum to take the leap?
So, my message for the new year is simple. Go out and make mistakes. Because making mistakes and moving is infinitely better than being frozen by indecision.

May the BEST of 2022 be the worst of 2023
Enjoy your journey to excellence.
